– 300 women sail For Cleaner Seas
Ocean Ladies is an active and well-known community of almost 300 Finnish women with a maritime spirit. Our passion is sailing and the sea!
We offer ordinary women the opportunity to sail together and learn even without their own boat. Our focus is offshore sailing and the bigger seas. Our boat Carissa (Swan 441, Ron Holland design) has already crossed the Atlantic six times.
Our theme is For Cleaner Seas, respecting the sea and its ecosystems. We collaborate with university and foundation based projects to make concrete steps towards sustainability on sea.
We attract attention and get heard with our positivity and energy in marinas, sailing races and events, and on social media! We have also won several awards for our work. Among other things, we were the first all female team to stand on the podium at the ARC 2025 race in our class. Based on experience and research Sailing is still a male dominated sport. We want to help women get involved!
Ocean Ladies turns 10 years in 2027
We are celebrating by challenging all sailing stakeholders to encourage female sailors to take the helm. At the same time, we want to improve Carissa’s festive condition and its operational capacity for decades to come.
Our Story
Our story begins with a love for the sea. We make dreams come true and take steps towards the big seas. Courage is our courage to learn, ask questions and grow together.
For us, responsibility is a way of sailing – and a way of being human. We respect the sea and the nature, we consider safety and good boating to be fundamental, and we inspire others to join in.
There is joy in everything. Laughter is our trademark. Working together gives energy, and shared experiences create stories that will be remembered for years to come.
